Dealing with the loss of a pet

I've mentioned that I used to be part of a duo and how I recently lost my brother Beck. He was getting on in years and had a few health issues which suddenly started getting a lot worse. In the end, he couldn't walk very far and mum had to buy a dog buggy for him to ride around in. One day about a month ago now, my family went out with him and came back without him. They were all very sad and upset. I don't exactly know what happened to him but I think I can guess. Losing my brother has been very difficult. As you can see, we always had each other to rely on and although we fought sometimes it was usually always in play, unless I sat on Beck's head for fun. He didn't like that. We had been through a lot as we were given up by our original family and fostered for a while with different people. It was confusing and scary but Beck was always telling me everything would be alright and eventually we found our forever home so he was right as always.

When he left, my family were very sad for a few weeks and even now they can be doing something, taking me for a walk for example and suddenly they just start crying. I can't cry like them but I do sometimes feel sad and lonely. I used to enjoy cuddling up to him and my family have tried to help my putting this weird stuffed toy in my bed but it's not the same. I think it's going to take a long time to get used to him not being around, maybe I never will and that's ok. He was a big part of all our lives and I think losing a personality like Beck is very hard for everyone and there's no time limit on feeling sad or having moments where you just feel empty. I've caught my mum looking at the Blue Cross website and I think it's helped her a bit.
